Impressive Performance and Towing Capability

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado features exterior and interior redesigns. With a new front end, more standard driver-assistive features, and an impressively large infotainment system touchscreen, there is a lot to like about the newest Silverado.

Along with the new technology and styling, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado towing capacity delivers what drivers need from their full-size trucks.

Towing Capacity and Technology Features

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado towing capacity depends on the cab, bed, and powertrain. With six engine options and two drivetrains, drivers get a towing capacity range between 9,100 and 13,300 pounds.

Buyers who need their 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 towing capabilities should add two vital systems. The Advanced Trailering System includes an In-Vehicle App with Pre-departure Checklists, Trailer Lighting Diagnostics, Trailer Tire Pressure and Temperature Monitoring, and customized trailer profiles through the myChevrolet Mobile App.

Drivers can also take advantage of additional trailering package features like Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist, and Auto Grade Braking. Chevy also includes Trailer Theft Alert and Electric Parking Brake Hookup Assist.

Engine Performance and Trim Features

With six engine options, buyers can choose the Silverado 1500 LTD with the towing capability they need. The 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder delivers 310 horsepower and lb-ft of torque to tow up to 9.600 pounds.

The 5.3-liter EcoTec V8 with the eight-speed automatic transmission with start-stop technology delivers 335 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque to tow up to 9,500 pounds. The same engine without start-stop technology, but with a 10-speed transmission can tow between 8,900 and 11,000 pounds depending on the cab and bed configuration.

Silverado 1500 LTD models with the 6.2-liter V8 with the auto start-stop feature and the 10-speed automatic transmission can tow up to 9,100 pounds, while the same engine without the start-stop feature can manage up to 13,300 pounds. The V8 delivers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Finally, the 3.0-liter Duramax inline-six turbo-diesel engine can tow up to 9,300 pounds. This engine delivers 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The trim levels between the Work Truck and the High Country model include several features. For example, the LT model can be equipped with a Regular Cab, Double Cab, or Crew Cab and a Long Bed, Standard Bed, or Short Bed.
